Avena

Avena is a locality in Casentino, in the commune of Poppi. In 1953, a number of tombs were discovered, of which only a small part of the funerary objects were recovered: a fragmentary Volterra krater from the early 3rd century B.C., attributable to the ‘Pittore della Monaca’, pieces of black-painted pottery, fragments of a bronze mirror, and a considerable amount of covering tiles.
