In Casentino, the Etruscans built their dwellings in unapproachable places and quite high up. This applies to the town of Masseto 600 metres above sea level, now surrounded by a chestnut wood and near the Ama torrent.

A dry quadrangular structure, a brick furnace and a rectangular structure were found but research has not yet confirmed their use.

It is evident that this archeological site went from the VIII to the VII century B.C. up until the Renaissance.
