In early history, there were already Paleolithic settlements revealing manufactured articles which can be traced back to lithic industries. During the Etruscan age, there was the discovery of dwellings located at an altitude for defence purposes. At the time, Casentino was the passageway to the mountain passes of the Tuscan and Emilian Appenines. The Romans can be traced in the findings of the Domo thermal complex and in the burials with objects accompanying the dead. Visitors are struck by the value and spiritual concept of certain sites, in which the links between different cultures are evident: from Pagan gods to the monotheistic worship of the Christian God. |
